Kettlebility
Today I spent a little time looking for certified Kettlebell instructors here in Seattle. I came across Kettlebility – this looks a lot like what I am looking for (they also do z-health which I keep meaning to try.) On their site there was a link to an article on the owner’s original physical transformation in Spring 2007 issue of Hard-Style magazine. Listed at the end was Andreas beginning workout:
10 two handed swings
5 single handed swings (do each side)
5 cleans (same)
5 pushups
rest 30-sec to 1min
9 two handed swings
4 single handed swings
4 cleans
4 push ups
rest 30 sec to 1min
and basically you repeat taking one rep off with each set until you are down to
6 two handed swings
1 single handed swing
1 clean
and 1 push up
I decided to try this with my new kettlebell. This was probably perfect for my level. By the end I felt winded but not decimated. I immediately noticed my new kettlebell has rougher handle which I will need to get used to. The most interesting thing I noticed was that while I ended the session feeling normally fatigue, it was like my exhaustion continued to grow over 5-10min until it was like my muscles were shaking a little. Hmmm.
Update: Alwyn Cosgrove has some good info up today on Kettlebells and cardio as well.
